Yes, of course -- don't we all? Latex wall paint is one of those products where leftovers are guaranteed, because you have to buy more than you need. In 2007, the EPA estimated that between 35 and 103 million gallons of post-consumer architectural paint is disposed of annually in the United States. So what can we do with all of that leftover paint, rather than discard it? Cassandra Tondro's solution is to transform it into fine art!
Cassandra uses leftover acrylic latex paint – better known as house paint – to create her contemporary abstract paintings on canvas. She rescues the paint from recycling centers in the Los Angeles area, and also combs the “mistint” shelves of home improvement stores.
You are invited to explore Cassandra's artwork on these pages, and she welcomes your inquiries, questions and comments.
