New Latex Paintings

These are two of the latex paintings I did a couple of weeks ago. They're finally dry enough to stand up and be photographed, but not yet completely dry. As the weather gets cooler, my paintings are taking even longer to dry, and it slows me down. These two are both 24" x 30", latex on canvas.Labels: new
My 500 Things
One of my friends told me about an interesting show on a radio program called The Story. It's about getting rid of stuff -- one of my favorite things to do. I've become a devout advocate of simplifying my life by having fewer things, and this show expresses my feelings about "stuff" exactly. It's a 23-minutes segment. Click on listen to hear it.
Another New Piece
Here's another new painting in search of a title. This one is 24" x 24", acrylic on canvas, poured and lifted paint. It must seem like I'm doing a painting a day lately, but all of these have been in progress for a long time. I'm just now getting around to finishing them up. They have many layers of paint, and there's a lot of drying time between each layer.Labels: new
More New Work

Sashi 1991 - 2007
My beloved Sashi died this morning. She was my aunt's cat until my aunt died, and she lived with me after that. She had a rapid decline over the past couple of days. I'm glad she didn't suffer too much, but now I really miss her.Labels: cats
More New Poured Paint
These are three more of my new poured latex paintings, all 24" x 30" or 30" x 24".

New Poured Piece
This is one of the poured latex paintings I did the other day, 48" x 12". It's the only one that's dry enough to stand up and be photographed. I love the graphic look.Labels: new
Oops!
I've been doing some poured paintings today using Oops! house paint from Home Depot, and it is incredibly messy. I need a much bigger studio space if I'm going to do much more of this. Puddles of paint form under the sawhorses, and it becomes difficult not to step in them. And who knew that a 36" x 48" canvas with house paint poured onto it was so heavy? But they look great! I'll post pictures when they're dry, but that won't be for another couple of months. Poured latex is very slow to dry.
