Transform Your Old Jeans

I found these jeans in my trash can, and decided it was a sign that I was supposed to do something with them. They’re well worn, but still have some life left in them. I gathered some fallen Catalina Fernleaf Ironwood leaves, which are abundant here year round. I soaked the leaves for a few days, then placed them against the jeans, and rolled the jeans up in a bundle, tying it tight with string. I simmered them in water to cover for several hours, them let it sit a couple of days before opening the bundle.

This is how they turned out, and I think they’re beautiful! Click images to see larger.

I’m letting them cure for a while before I wash then, and then I’m thinking of cutting the legs and making them into a long skirt. Pretty nice for trashed jeans!
