ArtWalk Ventura Pictures and Recap

Hello My Friends!

It’s been a hectic couple of weeks, culminating in ArtWalk Ventura last weekend. Thank you to everyone who came to see me at this event. It was great to catch up with old friends and meet new ones, and I was delighted to see so many of you there. Very fun!

Here’s a brief recap of ArtWalk from the small perspective of my venue, for those of you who couldn’t make it to the event.

Each year the ArtWalk committee selects a photographer to photograph each of the ArtWalk artists, and these posters are hung all over town to advertise the event. Here I am standing next to my ArtWalk poster that was hanging on the mirrored windows outside of The WAV on Ventura Avenue.

This was the inside of my PODS container, with my artwork hung and ready to go. The City of Ventura rents these PODS storage containers for the artists to display their work, and parks them in clusters around town.

And this is my whole set-up on California Street with the PODS container and my canopy in front, to provide shade.

The PODS containers work really well for art exhibits. At night all I had to do was put everything inside the PODS, close the roll-down door, and lock it. Very easy.

The designer tote bags, leaf print silk scarves and framed inspirational paintings were a big hit, and there was an enthusiastic response to my larger paintings, too.

Doing an outdoor show is a lot of work, and now that it’s over, I feel like I can breathe again. I often create my art in a vacuum, and I never know how it will be received. It’s good to get out into the world every now and then and show it, but I’m eager to get back to my painting now!

With love,
