Summer Viewing Fun

Cassandra Tondro, "Then There Was Life," abstract painting

Greetings Friends!

We’re in the middle of summer here in the northern hemisphere, and I thought I’d share some entertaining art videos available for you to watch for free on YouTube.

I’m enjoying two British series produced by Sky Arts: Landscape Artist of the Year and Portrait Artist of the Year. Eight artists compete in a series of nine sessions for the top honor of Artist of the Year. There are several seasons of each series, so there’s a lot to watch!

It’s interesting to see each artist’s style and approach to the subject, and to hear the comments of the judges. I find myself cheering for my favorite artists and feeling sad if they get eliminated in the competition. It’s very engaging.

Another fun series is The Great Pottery Throw Down. Artists compete for the top spot, but with ceramics instead of painting. Two seasons available for streaming on YouTube.

I hope you’re enjoying the summer and finding some down time to relax. Any creative projects happening for you right now? I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts. You can share them with us in the comments section below.

With love and appreciation,
