Video Update and New Work

Greetings Friends,

I thought I’d create a video update for you this week — a little more personal than the written word — since many of us are in isolation and feeling alone right now.

Click on the video player below to watch.

Below are the two new collage pieces that I show in the video. Click on the images to see them larger in a browser.

Luci also says “hi” from the backyard! She’s very much enjoying the stay-at-home order. More cuddle time for cats!

How has the coronavirus pandemic affected your work? I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts. You can share them with us in the comments section below.

With love and appreciation,

  1. Great to see you are doing well. I have returned to work and it is so distracting from my art, wishing I could go on lock down with all my art projects. Love you collages, I have stacks of magazines and have been wanting to try my hand at these. Stay active and well. Your friend from Iowa, Kim Moore

  2. Glad to see you are well. With the pandemic turmoil I found myself completely “paralyzed” artistically. All I wanted to do was settle into painting. Instead, my daughter and I have been making masks for so many in need. Our small network has contributed, since April 8th, over 6,000 masks to Hospice, hospitals, group homes, shelters for homeless and battered women, senior living centers, etc. I still can’t get quiet enough to get into my creative being. Out of my quilting stash I have cut enough fabric for 920 masks so far. When I reach 1,000, I think I will be able to take a break. Something between fear for the world and anger at the world is driving me right now. You have a lovely cat and garden. My garden, (and cat), now with spring, has been my spirit’s refuge. Your friend from Massachusetts.

    1. Hi Corinne. I know what you mean about feeling paralyzed. That happens to me sometimes, too. How wonderful that you’ve created so many masks! That’s a worthy project, for sure, and a way to channel your feelings and energy. We’re all just doing the best that we can right now. Hang in there, and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  3. Dear Cassandra, thanks for the nice video message, you always have a friendly and motivating way. I like your collages very much and I also do collages some times. My work is far away from corona at the moment, because i nearly can‘t hear the word anymore . I’m looking for distraction from this topic in my new pieces. But you are right, maybe I should do some work about this very special time, so that we will remember the feelings and hopefully learn something for the future.
I wish you all the best
    Your friend from Switzerland

    1. Hi Karin. We all react differently to these sorts of situations. Some people dive into their emotions, some freeze and are paralyzed, and others need to avoid their feelings. It’s all good, and there’s room for all of us at the table. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
