Hello Friends,
I had a dream the other night and I woke up in a cold sweat. In the dream, I was being forced by societal pressure to put on a frilly dress that I didn’t want to wear. The dress was tucked away and hidden under my bed. I was made to crawl under the bed to retrieve it, and I went into a panic at the thought of having to wear this dress.
Anyone else having vivid dreams these days? I’m pretty sure this dream has to do with anxiety about the uncertainty we’re facing. And it may reflect my dislike of the orders to stay home, keep our distance, wear masks, and comply with and not question authority.
The phrase that came to me after I woke up from the dream was “free us from ourselves,” and I decided to use that as the theme for a collage. The finished piece is below. Click on the image to see it larger in a browser.
“Free Us From Ourselves,” 16 x 20 inches, mixed media on canvas panel
I created two other collages this week. The first piece is about the grief that many of us are experiencing because of everything we’ve lost. And the second piece is just fun!
“At a Loss,” 16 x 20 inches, mixed media on canvas panel
“Masquerade,” 16 x 20 inches, mixed media on panel
What have your dreams been telling you lately? I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts. You can share them with us in the comments section below.
With love and appreciation,

Most likely not wanting to fall into feminine standards of society.Thats ok,nowadays you can be whatever you want.
Hi Helga! Yes, I can see that with the frilly dress and feminity. Maybe not wanting to have to be a “good girl” and a people pleaser. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Hi Cassandra, I think your dream shows the whole pressure of this corona situation we are in for such a long time. We are not free at the moment and have to „wear“ what others define.
I wasn‘t allowed to work for six weeks and started last monday again (massage). I have to wear a mask for my work now and my dreams for several nights are always about this mask…I lose it, I can‘t buy new ones, I can‘t breathe properly, the mask is dirty….and so on…. It shows how involved I am in this story and that my thoughts are working further in the night.
Wish you all the best.
Greetings from Switzerland
Karin
Hi Karin. How interesting that the mask has become such a prominent feature in your dreams! I can see it, though. The masks are uncomfortable and invasive, but required at the moment. Kind of a conflict there! You’re in a healing profession that’s intimate, and yet there’s this barrier of the impersonal mask.
I regularly have times with vivid dreams. But yes it’s a thing that goes with higher stress. See this article from Australia

Thanks for the link to the dream arrticle, Jean. That makes sense — more stress, more sleep. I often remember my dreams, but they aren’t usually this intense. Good to know that I’m not the only one experiencing this!
