The New Normal

Hi Friends,

This week I noticed that it’s easier to stay in the present, because there’s no future to think about. Not that there isn’t a future, but we don’t know what the future will be like, and we therefore can’t make future plans. It’s ironic that it took a pandemic and global shutdown to teach me to be in the present moment!

It’s difficult to deal with so much uncertainty, isn’t it? I can see now that things won’t be going back to “normal” any time soon, — perhaps never. This could be a good thing, or maybe not. Who knows? How are you handling the uncertainty? Is it exciting? Anxiety provoking?

The other day I had a small epiphany. I realized that the most important thing for my well-being, above all else, is that I have fun and enjoy whatever it is that I’m doing.

So to that end, I had some fun this week creating three new collages with a humorous twist. I’m especially fond of the first one. It was very fun to choose who would populate my Zoom room! Click on the images to see them larger in a browser.

I hope you’re doing well and finding opportunities for fun.

Who would you choose to be in your Zoom room? I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts. You can share them with us in the comments section below.

With love and appreciation,
Cassandra

  1. I love this! I feel the same way. Living in the moment is pure bliss and a real gift to us amid this pandemic. What a joy to be cooking and just being again! It is like an oasis of peace and an uplifting retreat in many ways as long as we dwell in the present! I love your Zoom room idea! I would put you in mine!

    1. LOL! That’s funny about putting me in your Zoom roo, Cinthia. Yes, I’m kind of not looking forward to everything opening back up. But then I’m kind of tired to doing nothing as well. It’s confusing!

  3. Love the zoom room – the humour in it is delightful.
I’ve seen the sizes you have done, and have tried doing similarly large collages 40 x 50cms and had good results – including submissions for online/instagram exhibitions, on self-portraits, and staying home. you are very versatile!
