Hi Friends,
When I was young I loved to sew. In junior high and high school I made a lot of my own clothes, and later I moved on to quilting.
Just walking into fabric stores gave me a thrill! The extensive collection of colors, patterns and textures took my breath away, and I could imagine all sorts of exciting things I could do with them.
I don’t sew these days, but it recently occured to me that my painting is much the same, only now I’m creating the colorful patterns and textures myself. I’ve taken the part of sewing that I liked and turned it into my art.
Beautiful fabrics continue to be an inspiration for me. Look at this gorgeous indigo dyed fabric from Japan offered by Britex Fabrics in San Francisco.
And this exquisite batik from Indonesia, also offered by Britex.
Sometimes I go to fabric stores just to immerse myself in the luscious world of color and design.
I sold quite a few paintings last year, so I’ve been working on new pieces both for my website and for Artful Home, where I also sell my art. I thought I’d share some of these new paintings with you. Maybe you’ll see the connection with textile design.

Thanks, Cinthia! Yes, Artful Home is a lovely site, and they sell quite a bit of my work. I consider myself lucky to be one of their artists!
Cassandra, your work is awesome! I appreciate your consciousness of using repurposed paint. Continued success.
Thank you for following along, Sharon! I appreciate your encouragement and support.
