First Show Since Lockdown

Hi Friends,

I have three paintings in a show here in Ventura — the first exhibit I’ve done since the start of the pandemic. That’s been more than a year-and-a-half!

The show features the work of the Buenaventura Abstract Artist Collective that meets twice a month on Zoom. We have members in the group from all over Southern California — Santa Monica to Santa Barbara.

As a group, we share and discuss our work on Zoom, and also study the art of well-known abstract artists. Joe Osborne does a magnificent job of organizing the group and presenting the images for discussion. He also organized and hung this show, and it looks fabulous!

I went to the soft opening on Friday night, and it was an emotional evening for me. This group was a lifesaver during lockdown, and I hadn’t met many of the other artists in person before the opening. I had forgotten how great it is to get together with fellow abstract artists and talk about our work. I didn’t realize how much I had missed that.

Here are some images from the soft opening. We’ll also be doing a formal opening in two weeks if you’d like to see this art in person or stop by to say “hi!” My three pieces are hung high between the two windows.

If you’re in the area, I highly recommend seeing this show. It features some wonderful art.

    1. Thanks, Peter! Things are somewhat erratic here. Some things are open, some closed, some for vaxxed only, some masked, some not masked, some socially distanced and others not. The rules keep changing and no one can keep up. Glad you’re still dabbling with your art!

  2. Congratulations Cassandra! I will see you at the 9/3 formal opening, and will have my studio open (#35, back building) at Bell Arts. I’m painting abstracts myself now. As a learning practice, I’m doing a 100-day challenge with two friends. Would love to show you my “progress”
