Suboptimal Canvas

Hi Friends,

I’ve been struggling with a roll of crappy canvas the past couple of weeks. It’s the same canvas that I always order but it’s heavier, gray instead of off-white, a coarser weave, and too absorbent. My pours don’t work on it at all. It sucks up the color and the paint won’t move.

But before that I finished up the previous roll of good canvas, and I have a few paintings that I like to share with you. These are from the “Pattern Recognition” series inspired by my weaving. Click on the images below to see them in a browser.

I’m hoping to find a use for the crappy canvas, because it’s too expensive to ship it back, and I’ve already cut into the roll. It will probably work for something, but I don’t know what that is just yet.

There’s a lot of waiting and letting things evolve on their own in this line of work!

What are you waiting for? I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts. You can share them with us in the comments section below.

With love and appreciation,
Cassandra

  1. Sorry to hear of your canvases…that does suck…pun intended ❤️
    Love your new works..
Sacred Space and Tsunami remind me of some of the Canadian Group of Seven Pa paintings

  2. I love the most the Sacred Spaces — so powerful and forest-like. Maybe you can do a Crappy Canvases series—. It has an edgy ring to it!
