Hi Friends,
It’s been a harrowing couple of weeks with strong winds and fires popping up here, there and everywhere. On Sunday we got the first rain of the season, and I’m beyond grateful for the half-inch that accumulated here. It’s not a lot, but it broke the cycle of dry winds and put the fires out.
I’ve been working on stitching and weaving, and it’s the only thing that keeps me grounded and sane amidst all of the drama going on.
I’m making progress on the stitching of my latest plaid piece, an homage to Piet Mondrian and his primary color block paintings. This is a detail shot of the piece.
I also finished several new handwoven scarves using the windowpane felting and cutting technique that I showed you in my last newsletter. Click on the images for more information and to see them in a browser.
For this last scarf I used a different type of yarn for the center of the squares, and it got kind of curly! It doesn’t have the same shag rug look as the others.

I’d like to follow you as well, so send me your Bluesky name.
How do you stay sane? I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts. You can share them with us in the comments section below.
With love and appreciation,
Cassandra

Thank you, Roya. And you’re in Topanga, right? It must have been really scary there.
