Enzo Update

Enzo is taking homeopathic remedies for the symptoms of his stroke, and he's getting better. He was able to eat on his own today, and his walking isn't quite so wobbly. The vet thinks he has partial paralysis of his left side, which is why his left eye doesn't look so good. It's slow, but he's getting a little better everyday.

Enzo

Enzo had a stroke last Monday, after a stressful visit to the vet for a fungal ear infection. Now he can't walk without falling over, and he can't eat or drink on his own. I have to hand feed him with a syringe. It looks like he may have lost vision in his left eye, and he lost his hearing. He couldn't hear much before, but now he can't hear at all.

It's been an incredibly stressful week, trying to figure out what was wrong with him, and then trying to figure out what to do about it. I'm treating him with homeopathic remedies. He's old, and I doubt he'll be able to make a full recovery, but I'm hoping that he'll at least be able to eat and drink again.

He's handling it much better than I am! He seems confused about what has happened to him, but he doesn't have the worry and grief that I have.

Alex and Nelson

These two are so cute together. They even sleep back-to-back. Alex just adores Nelson, and she follows him everywhere. Who wouldn't adore Nelson? He's like a big cuddly teddy bear.

Aggressive Squirrel

There's a really aggressive squirrel in my backyard. She muscles the cats out of the way to get their kibble, and when I bring the kibble in the house, she comes right in through an open door to get it. This morning she came in and ate an avocado on the kitchen counter.

Then she was wearing down her teeth on the screen door, which I captured on this video. (Oops! It's sideways. I forgot that you can't rotate a video, or at least I can't. Sorry about that. Turn your head sideways to watch it!)

She's fearless, and seems to be desperately hungry. What do you do with a wild animal like this?

Luci

Luci in a pensive moment. I love these guys. They're great friends, and they keep me company. It would be really lonely working
here at home without them.

Sunrise Sunrise

My friend Darlene DeMille has been dedicated to photographing the sunrise everyday since 2001. Not only that, but she drives
up to Malibu to photograph the sunrise, which means getting up way before sunrise! If she's traveling, she photographs the sunrise from wherever she is. I admire her tenacity.

The photo above is one that Darlene sent me two days ago, on Tuesday, September 30th, of the sunrise that morning. You can see and purchase any of Darlene's sunrise photographs on her Sunrise Sunrise website. They make unique gifts for special occasions such as anniversaries, weddings, births, graduations . . . or for no occasion at all, just because they're beautiful.

Haircut

I got my hair cut yesterday. I said #2 clippers, but this looks more like a #1 clipper cut -- a tad shorter than I was expecting. Oh well. It feels good in this hot weather, anyway.

Debbi's Website

I've been working on Debbi Green's website lately. Debbi is a fellow artist, and she paints plein air landscapes, still life, and animal portraits. She wanted purple text, but I made her go with light gray!
Check it out, and see what you think. Would purple be better?

Monsoon

We're getting weird monsoon weather today, and we even had a few sprinkles. Very unusual for Southern California at this time of year.

Fall Update

I'm back! It's fall already, and I feel like I missed the last half of summer. I had endemic Typhus, not the flu, and it's been a long and slow recovery. Endemic Typhus is not the same as epidemic Typhus, but it was pretty bad. I spent a week in the hospital before anyone could figure out what was wrong with me.

I'm glad to be able to walk again and do some work in the studio. Posting might be spotty until I'm back in full swing. I have a lot of catching up to do.
