Sunday in the Park

Here's the piece I was working on at the Wet Paint show yesterday.



I'm calling it "Sunday in the Park." It's 28" x 34", mixed media on canvas. I had to restretch it this morning to get the stitching lines a little more straight. It's hard to do good work onsite.

Lost in Space

New work done from the molded onions. "Lost in Space," 28" x 34", mixed media on canvas.

Awakening

"Awakening," 26" x 38", mixed media on canvas. This was from the molded tomatoes.

Still Life

Two new still life pieces done from the cucumber mold.

New Work

These are two new pieces in need of titles. I'm getting work ready for the Wet Paint show next weekend, and I just finished them today.

Unexpected Results

This is pretty funny. I molded some tomatoes, and the tomato seeds began to sprout!






I've never seen that happen before. Don't get too attached to that lovely orange color. I'm pretty sure it's just pigment from the tomatoes, and will wash out.

I guess it's true that tomatoes grow anywhere -- even between sheets of Plexiglas!

Conundrum

Here's the final piece of the first eight for the "Decomposition" series. This one is "Conundrum," 50" x 36", pigment and stain on canvas.

Passage

This is the seventh piece in the "Decomposition" series. It's titled "Passage," and it's 56" x 42", pigment and stain on canvas.

Painting in Search of a Name

This is the latest in my "Decomposition" series, 48" x 36". It's in search of a name, in case you have any suggestions.

Update: My mom suggested the title "Blowing in the Wind." That's good! I like that. I'll go with it.

Mushrooms

One of the mold pieces is growing little white mushrooms! I've never seen that before.

Schism

This is the latest in the "Decomposition" series -- "Schism," 48" x 36", pigment and stain on canvas.

Cucumbers

This piece of canvas was created by molded sliced cucumbers. I especially like the pinks and yellows that devveloped. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.

Codex

Here's a piece that I just finished today, titled "Codex." Pigment and stain on canvas, 52" x 38".

Journey

This is the latest piece in my new body of work, which is still looking for a title for the series. Alchemical Something-or-Other? Transformation? Decomposition? I'm open to suggestions. This piece is titled "Journey," 54" x 40", pigment and stain on canvas.

Compost Chic

This is an organic cotton T-shirt that I compost dyed using sliced beets. It's air conditioned for hot weather. The colors and patterns are really interesting. You can see them better in the detail.

Anomie

This piece needed something, so this is what it got. I think it looks better now.

Finished Mold Pieces

Here are the first two finished mold pieces, and a detail view of each. The first one is 54" x 40", and the bottom one is 36" x 32". Stain and pigment on canvas. I don't want to say too much about them, because I don't want to influence you.
