The Banana plant is loving the hot tropical weather we’ve been having.
Hi Friends,
I’m at the tail end of my house renovation, and this is the most difficult part — the kitchen. I saved it for last, because I was dreading being without a kitchen for two months.
I’m two weeks into it, and here’s what my kitchen looks like:

I’ve set up a temporary kitchen in the dining room, with a hot plate, toaster oven, slow cooker, InstantPot and the refrigerator. It’s do-able, but it slows me down because I have to think about how to do things. I can only use one appliance at a time, since the electrical capacity in the dining room isn’t what it is in the real kitchen.

Washing dishes is a challenge. My contractor moved the old kitchen sink to the backyard, where it’s fed water through a hose while a second hose drains the graywater to the camellias.
It’s kind of nice having a sink in the yard, but the novelty wears off after a few days of hauling dishes in and out of the house.

It’s difficult to be creative with all of this going on, but I did manage to get two more collage pieces done for my “Vogue Deconstructed” series.
This first piece was a hot mess, but I just kept working it by applying layers of paint and collage, and sanding in between. It finally got to the point where I had something that I liked.

“Iconic,” 14 x 11 inches, collage and enamel on canvas panel
The next piece is two Yves Saint Laurent perfume images woven together.
“YSL,” 14 x 11 inches, collage on canvas panel
Six weeks to go, if the kitchen is finished on schedule, which as we know, is unlikely. Hopefully it will be done by Thanksgiving!
What’s happening in your life? I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts. You can share them with us in the comments section below.
With love and appreciation,
Cassandra
