Western Redbud tree beginning to bloom in my backyard.
Hi Friends,
Shout out to Lydia in the UK! Her class is studying my work this term and . . . wait! Someone is studying my art??? That in-and-of-itself is a surprise. Lydia’s mom wrote and asked if I could send one of my leaf print cards if I had any left. Yes! I have plenty of them left, so I sent one for each of the 32 students in her class. The picture below is Lydia after receiving them. How adorable is this? She really made my day.
I want to go to the school where they study contemporary artists’ work. I’ll bet not many children get that kind of education these days, and it’s sad. But I’m happy that Lydia and her classmates have the opportunity to study art. Next they’re going to create their own work, and Lydia’s teacher is going to take pictures. Stay tuned!

I’ve been working on a series of found poertry collages that I was going to enter into an upcoming show at The Ebell titled “A Woman’s Place.” But then I found out that the work has to be hand delivered, and The Ebell is in Los Angeles. That’s a lot of driving for a juried show! If you’re interested in entering this show, the deadline to submit work is February 24th. Click here for more information.
So that didn’t work out, but I’m really liking these collages, and I’m planning to continue the series. The main image in each piece is crinkled using the momigami technique, then I dip it in tea dye to give it a bit of a vintage look.
The words are cut from discarded magazines and placed in a large wooden bowl. I then pull words out of the bowl randomly and use them to form messages intuitively.
Click on the images below to see the work in a browser and for more information about each piece.

What surpises have you encountered lately? I’d enjoy hearing your thoughts. You can share them with us in the comments section below.
With love and appreciation,
